Dealing with Past Issues
Past Issues can be pain, disappointments, mistakes and everything from your past that tends to spoil your joy from the present. You may sometimes be having flashbacks of all these situations. I also have been through that and the prescription thereof is very precise.
- Associate yourself with situations that will allow your mind to free from past meditations. Situations can be people, type of music you listen to, environment, TV programmes and habits.
- Study the word of God. The word of God will reveal to you what God says about you. Because past mistakes comes with regret and self -judgement, and condemnation, the word of God will reveal how God wants you to operate, to pick you up from where you are and move on with the good life that God has called you to live.
- Do not allow yourself to be trapped inside the norm. many people are still trapped in the thought that God is angry at them because of the sinful life they lived before or even because of their family line. That is not true. Even the bible reveals to us in 1 John 4 verses 9 and 10 that if there’s anything in this world that God is crazily seeking after and is in love with is you. So never allow yourself to be trapped in that too. Day and night meditate on God’s love for you then it will be easy for you to see and appreciate it.
- Allow God’s word to search you. Thorough reading and meditation of scriptures somehow sanctifies you. It keeps you awaken in God. Jesus prayed for his disciples that he had sanctified them by the word. God’s word has the ability to sanctify. It will reproof you, train you and get you ready for every good work ( 1Timothy 3:16-17)
- Build yourself up in the most holy faith. Jude 1:20 ‘ but you beloved, building yourself up in the most holy faith praying in the spirit’. Speaking in tongues is the most crucial weapon for any believer. Romans 8:26 makes us understand that as we pray in tongues, the Spirit of God makes intercession for us. He searches our hearts and prays to God on our behalf. Then we no longer have to suffer flashbacks from our past.
